Spontaneity (Live Spontaneously) (36×36 Acrylic on canvas with sustainable materials)
Life is what we make of it. Whether we choose to live by our own or society’s standards is up to us. Society has created this illusion of control. That no matter how we plan, how we educate, how we work, life will happen as we expect it to. Ding. Ding. Ding. Life doesn’t work that way. Some days are good, some days are bad. For some of us, being spontaneous is difficult because we need that delusion of control. Living day by day on some devised monotonous plan, control makes us feel safe and protected. But the reality is that Life gets in the way of that; it has an ironic way of reminding us that we have no control. Some unexpected event will occur. It will stump us or throw us for a loop and we won’t have any authority over it. So we might as well join in on the fun. By being spontaneous, we can have a C’est la vie attitude toward Life when it throws a rock or bone at us. And it will happen from time to time. By being spontaneous, we can cope. We won’t be stumped by whatever unexpected event befalls us. Instead, our eyes will be wide open. We will be mindful of the misfortune or open-minded when an opportunity arises. Spontaneity teaches us to embrace it, deal with it and move forward. In spontaneity, we learn who we really are as individuals because we now know what our capabilities are. We know our strengths and our weaknesses. We persevere. We motivate. We’re determined. We’re faithful. It is in that realization, that we conquer Life. We don’t let Life turn our lives upside down. Instead, Spontaneity is the coping mechanism, the tool we have for dealing with whatever event occurs. Spontaneity teaches us to throw caution to the wind. To live religiously and roll with the punches. In spontaneity, we learn to enjoy Life as is. An unexpected journey. Good or bad, we won’t let Life unanticipated event destroy us. Instead, we live it. We savor it.
